  • I can’t believe I get to play radio and voice-over guy for a living! I’ve been doing this since I was 10 years old. My Grandfather got into the business as a preacher in small towns in Kansas and Nebraska, and started to build a small network of radio stations. My Father had the passion as well and began running the radio group. Many evenings after sunset, I would take over the Control Room in my Dad’s daytime AM station in Denver and play radio for hours. I spent a lot of time in the production rooms making sweepers and promos, ready to roll them out the next time the station would sign off for the night. Thanks to all my clients, Nate at CESD and my family for putting up with me as I continue to “play” radio and voice-over guy today and into the future!

  • Tom Pagnotti was born in Lynn, MA on July 6, 1958 the son of John P. and Anita (Gness) Pagnotti. He attended schools in Swampscott and Plymouth, MA, graduated from Plymouth Carver High School, and then attended Grahm Junior College in Boston. Tom started his radio career working for owner Jeff Fisher at WFTN-AM in Franklin, NH. Next he moved to WSPR-AM in Springfield, MA, also owned by Fisher.  In 1977, Tom, known to listeners as Tom Kelly, got his first big break working afternoons at the legendary WDRC-AM Hartford, CT followed by afternoons at WTIC-FM also in Hartford. During the early 1980’s, Pagnotti moved to WBEN-AM in Buffalo, NY. Then to Denver at KHOW-AM and KMJI-FM before spending 14 years hosting afternoons at Washington DC’s WBIG-FM. Tom had, what could only be described as, a velvet voice, was dubbed the “voice of God” by many and was well known for his signature “growl” in sports promos.  In 2006, Tom moved to Bath, Maine and founded Choice Voice, Inc. a company providing voiceovers for radio, television, film and new media. As a TV promo and radio imaging voice he was heard on stations across the country.  Throughout his career, Tom was a popular, highly rated personality who never hesitated to become involved in charitable organizations in the communities in which he lived. While in Washington DC Tom appeared on the Jerry Lewis MDA telethons and worked on behalf of charities like the Boy Scouts. When he moved to Bath he created and hosted Cockertails, an annual event that raised funds for dog rescue programs in the area. As the annual host of Main Street Bath’s fundraiser, So You Think You Know Bath, he was dubbed the Mouth of the Kennebec. A moniker in which he took much pleasure. Tom was a former board member of Sagadahoc Preservation Inc, and was active for many years in their Annual House and Garden Tour. Tom met people easily and held on tight to both old and new friendships. He has been a mentor to many getting started in the field of radio, and voiceover work. Tom enjoyed a room full of friends around a table of good food and lively conversations. He loved his 2 pups, first Padrid and then Ruby, both rescued Cocker Spaniels.  Tom was diagnosed with lung cancer in February of this year; he fought a gallant, private battle, but ultimately he succumbed to complications of his treatment. The extraordinary care and support he received from his partner and best friend, Paul Chapman, enabled him to continue to work throughout the ordeal.  He is predeceased by his parents, and his uncle, Jack Gness.  Tom is survived by his partner, Paul Chapman of Bath, his sister, Alana Pagnotti of Lincoln, MA, two brothers, Richie Pagnotti and his wife Barbara of Plymouth, MA and Philip Pagnotti of Russia, his aunts and uncle, Jane Gness of Alna and Paul Pagnotti and his wife Karen of Salem, MA, and cousins, Bethany Thompson and her husband Tim, Chris Gness and his wife Heather, and Andy Pagnotti and his wife Diane.  A celebration of Tom’s life will be held in January. A Memorial Fund has been started in Tom's name to help his partner, Paul, move forward with his life without Tom. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tom Pagnotti Memorial Fund in care of Bath Savings Bank.
  • Formats: Classic hits/Rock/NT/CHR/Country.  Jim began his broadcasting career when he was still a teenager working 31 years at the legendary 3WS in Pittsburgh, much of which was doing mornings. In 1987 he started his voiceover career and was the first to “brand” the popular phrase “voice imaging”.  He has imaged and branded over 500 radio stations around the world and currently voices for HBO. Most of the program directors he works for like his ability to have many different styles of reads from the same voice person. He is definitely not a “one read” person. From a hard biting edge aggressive read to a warm and heartfelt read Jim will nail it. He is one of the easiest voiceover people to work with, and routinely gets a stations voice work back minutes after the program director hits the send button. • Like many, I started as a ‘jock wanna-be’, having been on-air in Washington, DC, Baltimore, Cleveland, and others. But I gravitated to the production studio. In between writing and creating spots and promos, I yearned to emulate some of the ‘image voices’ that I was fortunate enough to work with. In addition to being the ‘voice’ of about 20+ stations, I voice a wide array of commercials, promos, and non-broadcast projects. I feel most comfortable with formats like AAA, Classic Rock, Classic Hits, and Adult Variety. The more genuine and real, the better! My wife sends me to the basement daily, where I work out of my home studio in the same hometown that once housed a guy named ‘LeBron James’. When the microphone gets turned off, I enjoy writing, twisting the throttle on my Triumph Tiger 800, and uncovering new and well-made craft beers.

  • A 20-year imaging pro who got to pick the brains of some of the best Radio VO talent ever:  Don, Sandy, Annie, Brian James, Pleisse, Berlin, Corley...and some dude named Chad.  I'm just a Boston-suburban Father/Husband that gets to do amazing things everyday, and disguise it as work.  A big thank you to my clients and agents for making it all possible, I appreciate you all!  One day I hope to retire with my beautiful wife on Martha's Vineyard. We'll probably get a dog too.

  • With Welsh blood in his veins, it seemed almost natural that at some point he would use his voice for something other than just normal everyday conversation.  The Welsh are known for their powerful voices and his great grandfather was born near Swansea, the home of Welsh Choral singing.  David may have sung a few bars here and there throughout his almost 30 year career, but ‘DK’ is mostly known for providing the voice behind hundreds of cartoon characters including 'Megatron' from ‘Transformers:Beastwars' and 'Optimus Prime' in ‘Transformers:Animated.’   The list is long and includes a multitude of  network television promos, affiliates, trailers, commercials, narration, audio books and live television.  Currently David’s voice is featured on HBO’s smash success, 'Last Week Tonight' with John Oliver.  Back in 1982 though,  he fell in love with radio.  “It will always be a part of who I am,” says Kaye. "I still get the biggest charge providing imaging work for radio stations around the world.  I have a blast every time that mic goes on ! ”   In 2016,  Sony Playstation’s ‘Ratchet & Clank’, the best selling platform game of all time goes to the big screen. Kaye provides the voice of the loveable robot ‘Clank’ in his first starring animated feature role.

Benztown 50 is a list of the top 50 voice-over talent in radio station imaging in the US - and now for the first time in Canada. The professional research team at P1 partnered with Benztown to create the Benztown 50 Voice Power Index. The index was devised surveying over 300 US & Canada broadcast groups, and using a proprietary formula weighting voice talent visibility from a number of factors, including station count, station information, and audience. To provide the most comprehensive list, P1 Research worked with, and collected data from radio station groups, talent agencies, and the voice-over artists themselves.

Benztown 50 excludes individuals who respectfully requested to be left off the list.
