MAY 22, 2014, BURBANK, CA—Benztown announced today that its in-house composer, Shane Drasin, will be honored at the American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers’ 29th Annual Film and Television Music Awards for his original music from BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood, one of the top television series of 2013. The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 25, at the Beverly Hilton International Ballroom in Los Angeles. The 29th Annual ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards will celebrate the music from last year’s most popular films and television programs.
Drasin wrote, performed and produced “Welcome to Hollywood”, the award-winning theme song for the series. Real Husbands of Hollywood is a comedy reality television parody starring Kevin Hart, JB Smoove, Nelly, Boris Kodjoe, Nick Cannon and Duane Martin. The show airs Tuesdays at 9:00 pm Central/10:00 pm Eastern on BET.
Drasin, 33, is a multi-instrumentalist producer, songwriter and composer, including radio and television shows, films and artists. His music can be heard on several hit television series, including: The King Of Queens, Jersey Shore, Burn Notice, Real Husbands of Hollywood and Parenthood. In 2010, Shane’s song, “Waves Of Change” was remixed by the world-renowned EDM producer and remix artist, Kaskade. The song appears on Kaskade’s album Dance Love. Drasin was formerly a partner and student of the late Oji Pierce (Montell Jordan, Coolio). He has honed and perfected his craft while working with some of the most respected songwriters of today.
